Copper is a reactive metal and oxidizes when exposed to air, water, heat, etc. Oxidization typically will turn the skin a green color if not kept up with regular maintenance. If your copper does tarnish, as it naturally does, you can clean your jewelry using one of the following methods to restore its original shine:

• ♦ Wash with lukewarm, soapy water. Then, dry & polish with a soft cloth & coat in clear nail polish to protect it & your finger.                                       
• ♦ Use table salt & vinegar - pour salt & vinegar over your jewelry & gently rub into the jewelry until any grime or tarnishing is removed. Rinse with water & polish with a soft, dry cloth.
• ♦ Use salt & lemon - pour salt on half of a lemon & rub over jewelry, or pour salt & squeezed lemon juice onto jewelry & gently rub in. Rinse with water & polish with a soft, dry cloth.

Store in plastic bags to slow tarnishing process.

Plated Jewelry

All jewelry is formed in copper through the electroforming process. Upon choosing another finish (rose gold, 14k gold, or rhodium) there will be a nickel barrier between the copper and your top finish. These are plated in a very thick and heavy plating at 3 microns thick. These can be wet and worn daily, and is best to dry thoroughly if exposed to water. When the jewelry begins to wear down to the copper metal, contact me to have it re-dipped. Jewelry cloths are a great way to periodically wipe the chains and charms clean of residue.
